About Us

Severn Bookkeeping is a small family business specialising in assisting the financial needs of small and medium businesses. We keep our costs low by operating from our home-office, this way we can pass the savings on to you.
We offer services covering all aspects of your finances: accounts, bookkeeping, vat returns and payroll as well as tax returns and general advice.
We offer a personal, tailored service built to suit your needs, with as much or as little support as you like, and our fees are designed to reflect this.
The business is headed by a qualified accountant with over 21 years of experience in finance and accountancy. This gives you access to a wealth of information and experience. We can either use your financial ledger system, or our own to record your information, which could save you the purchase price of this often expensive software.

Phil Sweeney

Phil Sweeneys background includes training in business management and accounting systems. He has worked in the finance industry since leaving college in 1996, this includes employment in private and public sector at all levels including senior positions. His experience includes the preparation of financial reports and statements as well as management accounts and budgeting.
Phils educational and professional background includes a GNVQ in Advanced Business and Finance, he also holds the AAT qualification (Association of Accounting Technicians) and is a member of the association. Phil is a chartered accountant, and is a member of CIFPA (The Chartered Institute of Public Finance Accountants).
Outside of the business Phil has a passion for mountain biking, and has previously competed nationally in cross country, downhill and enduro events. He now regularly enjoys the delights that the Shropshire Hills has to offer!
Other hobbies include Snowboarding, Badminton & Walking.

Linda Parry-Sweeney

Lindas background includes working in finance since 1992, as well as experience outside the finance arena. She has worked in a wide variety of industry including public and private sector.
Lindas educational and professional background includes a BTEC in Business and Finance, she also holds the AAT qualification.
Outside of the business Linda enjoys horse riding in the Shropshire Hills, Walking the dogs and spending time in the garden.

What we do

We offer a range of services, all available at fixed prices which will be quoted and agreed before any work commences. This means no charging by the hour and no unexpected charges.

Regular Transactional Recording

We will prepare balance sheets and income statements from the source documents that you provide to us. We will also reconcile your business bank account to ensure that all financial transactions have been recorded.

Financial Statement Review

We will review your financial statements and analyse variations against the budget. We will then recast your financial projections for the next 12 months to allow you to have a financial plan to follow.

Annual Statutory Returns

We will file your government returns (e.g. Tax, VAT, payroll) as well as any other statutory filings for which you are responsible.

Unlimited Access to Advice on Ad hoc Matters

As an annual customer you can call us at any time during office hours for advice on ad hoc financial matters in the knowledge that we will not be charging you for that advice.

Bookkeeping First Aid

If you already have your own bookkeeping system but work pressures mean you are struggling to keep on top of your financial records, We can assist you by offering advice and bringing your books up to date.
